Article on "Guaranteeing citizenship with a gender perspective" by Paola Lo Cascio
Paola Lo Cascio, Research Manager at EINA, has, together with Òscar Monterde, published the article “Guaranteeing citizenship with a gender perspective” in the Umbral journal, a publication created for the artistic and social project of the same name, intended to be a place for reflection on the phenomenon of migration and racism, which is being held in Barcelona from 10 December to 6 February.
The article offers a reflection on how the breach of human rights specifically and differently affects refugee and migrant women, both in terms of the causes of migration and of the intrinsic risks of the migratory process, and finally due to the contexts of arrival and hosting. For this reason, hosting that overcomes the solving of the immediate problems should also introduce a gender perspective that is capable of incorporating instruments for repairing damage, protecting from danger and providing resources, but also, and especially, providing the women with independence and rights.
The publication was coordinated by José Luís Corazón, teacher in the History of Modern Art and Design, in the 2nd year of the EINA Bachelor’s Degree in Design.
