Albert Corbeto, teacher on the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, the Master's in Advanced Typography and Page Design and the Master's in Graphic Design, is the curator of the exhibition “Illustrated Letters. Barcelona Book-Lovers Association, 75 Years of Publishing”
2019 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the ABB - Associació de Bibliòfils de Barcelona (Barcelona Book-Lovers Association). Over these years, the ABB has published a goodly number of quality books produced with great care and printed in the most prestigious graphic arts workshops. It has published historic works, some of them previously unpublished, and has reissued literary texts by such prestigious authors as Jacint Verdaguer, J.V. Foix, Salvador Espriu, Pere Calders, Joan Perucho, Pere Gimferrer and Josep Carner, with the collaboration of leading illustrators and artists, such as Miquel Plana, Antoni Tàpies, Josep M. Subirachs, Enric Cluselles, Manuel Boix, Perejaume, Perico Pastor and Narcís Comadira. This work shows the result of all this publishing activity, the result of the convergence of authors, illustrators and editors in works for book-lovers, aimed at enriching the culture of the country and fostering a love for books. It does not only present the major works published by the ABB in the form of a finished product, in other words, the book printed under specific physical characteristics and with a limited print run, but also the materials used in the prior production processes of the printed works and the illustrations, such as preliminary sketches, mock-ups, woodcuts, metal plates, proofs, etc.
